Motorbike Route: Bike Station (Riga) to Ērgļi Station - Latvia´s Scenic Ride For motorcyclists, the journey from Riga to Ērgļi offers an excellent blend of engaging roads and beautiful landscapes. This route focuses on well-paved sections, specifically avoiding the unpaved former railway line. Roads and Surfaces The highlight is the P4 road from Suntaži to Ērgļi. Recently paved, this section is renowned for its smooth tarmac and continuous twisties, earning it the local nickname ´Italy.´ It boasts a 4.5/5 rating for both road surface and scenery on Best Biking Roads. To reach this fantastic stretch from Riga, take the A4 (Riga Bypass East), connecting to regional roads like P5 or P8 towards Suntaži. These main roads provide a good lead-in to the more exciting P4. When leaving Ērgļi, consider using P81 to maintain a paved route. Scenery The ride takes you through the scenic Vidzeme region, characterized by: Rolling hills and valleys Dense forests Open meadows and farmlands Charming rural villages The P4 section, in particular, offers consistently beautiful vistas, making it a visually rewarding experience. This route is a superb choice for experiencing some of Latvia´s best motorbike roads and natural beauty.
