Rode this last fall 2018, it is definetly an adventure bike road at this time. Road is in poor shape, potholes and dips due to road slide that bottomed me out so bad I was sure I would end up with a flat. I was on GL1800, and it´s a very scenic backwoods ride, you will average about 20 miles an hour. Worth the ride, but would not do it again with a tour or cruiser bike, unless planning a very slow, pick your way through the holes ride!

The road surface is poor with bumps and cracked tarmac on corner entry, but set that aside this is a truly great motorbiker road and by far the best for bendy bits in Washington, there is only 1 great view of Mount St Helens and the Windy Creek road was shut at this time, but it didnt put me off spending a day riding this American classic ..

Put it on your list !!

This is a road that I tell my California friends is a 'must ride' when they visit the NW. It's my favorite road in Washington, preferring it to some better known options. It's particularly great to make it part of a longer trip by continuing to Packwood, then either over Cayuse Pass to Enumclaw or over Chinook to Yakima, returning on White Pass. Some spectacular stuff!

A great day trip from Vancouver WA up to Randle and back. Ive done this road many a time and will continue to do so as it is challenging and always entertaining.

As well, it is part day one when I do multi days to Rainier and parts north...

A+++

Some News about this route. Unfortunately, there will be a problem for the summer of 2008. Forest Road 25, from Randle to Pine Creek GS on Forest Road 90, will be closed to through-traffic from approximately July 8 through September 15 due to bridge construction near Randle. No formal local detour is available, due to road conditions and traffic safety concerns, and none will be recommended or signed. Access from north to south will be available via Interstate 5 and the key east-west connectors such as US12, SR14, SR503, and other Forest Road connections. Other Forest Roads are not intended to be a through-traffic detour, are not recommended for through-traffic, and will not be signed or marked as such.

Access to Windy Ridge and FR99 will be available from the south via SR503, FR90, and FR99.

Washington Forest Road 25 in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest is an often overlooked gem for motorcycle riders. Arguably the best Washington road for both curves and scenery, and with less traffic than the usually top rated Highway 2. One of the reasons that it may be less well-known among riders and writers is because it is closed until late June and only open during the summer thereafter. Its status can easily be checked on the National Forest web site here. The road gives access to the east rim of Mt. St. Helens (a not-to-be missed side trip) and has equally spectacular connecting roads to either I-5 via State Route 503 or to the beautiful Columbia Rivers Route 14 over the Wind River Highway. The road condition is superb -- lots of new pavement/tarmac -- and contrary to what some may think -- it is ALL paved.
