A great detour coming or going if you are bored hammering down the Autoroutes, get off at Dijon and make for Dole, then south east on dual carriageways and A roads via Mont-sous-Vaudrey to Arbois onto Champagnole following the N5 all the way to Les Rousses on really fabulous sweeping forested roads. From here you can go into Switzerland or turn south south west and make for Geneve for the French and italian Alps.
